Abstract
Benoit Frydman presents the Brussels School as a school of thought founded in the social sciences at the end of the nineteenth century, characterised by an interdisciplinary, pragmatic and anti-formalist approach to law and norms. He divides its development into three phases: a sociological phase (social reform, social defence, labour law), an argumentative phase (post-1945, centred on Chaim Perelman and his new rhetoric applied to law), and a global phase (from the 1990s onwards, devoted to the study of innovative normative instruments in global governance). The author emphasises that the School conceives of law not as an articulated system of rules but as the progressive and reasonable construction of solutions emerging from adversarial debate in a context of irreducible pluralism.

Benoit Frydman présente l'École de Bruxelles comme une école de pensée fondée à la fin du dix-neuvième siècle en sciences sociales, caractérisée par une approche interdisciplinaire, pragmatique et anti-formaliste du droit et des normes. Il divise son évolution en trois phases : sociologique (réformes sociales, défense sociale, droit du travail), argumentative (post-1945, autour de Chaïm Perelman et sa nouvelle rhétorique appliquée au droit), et globale (années 1990 onwards, étude des instruments normatifs innovants en gouvernance mondiale). L'auteur souligne que l'École conçoit le droit non comme un système articulé de règles mais comme une construction progressive et raisonnable de solutions émergentes du débat contradictoire dans un contexte de pluralisme irréductible.
