Abstract
This introductory article by the collective formed by Charly Derave, Benoit Frydman, and Nathan Genicot examines artificial intelligence and algorithmic governance as both a major threat and an opportunity for the rule of law. The work traces the philosophical and historical roots of this project back to the Platonic government by reason, then traverses post-war cybernetics before distinguishing two technically distinct approaches: symbolic AI based on explicit rules, and connectionist AI through supervised learning operating as a 'black box'.
