Abstract
This personal tribute describes the four-year collaboration between Benoit Frydman and Christine Matray at the Belgian High Council of Justice, documenting Matray's essential role both in the creation of the Council by reforming the appointment of magistrates to distance it from the partisan political control of the D'Hondt system, and in her critical work within the institution to promote its proper mission with institutional dignity. Cet hommage personnel décrit la collaboration de quatre ans entre Benoit Frydman et Christine Matray au Conseil Supérieur de la Justice belge, documentant le rôle essentiel de Matray à la fois dans la création du Conseil en réformant la nomination des magistrats pour l'éloigner du contrôle politique partisan du système Hondt, et dans son travail critique au sein de l'institution pour en promouvoir la mission propre avec dignité institutionnelle.
